THE CHILDREN’S ACTING CENTER
For the past seventeen years, the Children’s Acting Center team has prepared dozens of Winnipeg children and teens for auditions and roles in Winnipeg’s burgeoning film industry. As well, many of our young actors may not have followed through into the film and television industry but the confidence, skills and attitudes they have developed will only benefit them as they move into other endeavors!
The Childrens Acting Center was created to help children who want to explore the world of acting in an inclusive safe environment. Parents are also educated as far as what they need to know if their child pursues an acting career.
At our studio you will receive training from professional teachers so when audition opportunities present themselves both the child and parent will be ready! We have a goal to make your child's journey as well as the parents journey an enjoyable one where you feel like you know what is happening each step along the way.
Your child will learn so much in class, but most importantly they will have FUN!

Hi, I ‘m Lois,
The approach Lois takes in teaching is focussed on FUN. She teaches the child from where they are at, focussing on their individual abilities. Lois has been a prominent and respected professional in the Winnipeg Film Industry for nearly two decades. Her qualifications include being a certified schoolteacher for over 30 years. Lois has taught everything from physical education, theater, worked with many students with a variety of challenges and coached many athletes. She herself is a mother of two, one being a young adult who lives with Down syndrome. It is her passion for teaching and the love of acting, which led her to start her studio for children in 2004. Lois’ combination of knowledge, compassion and patience helps engage the children. Even the most shy of kids leave her studio feeling uplifted and confident. She combines scene study; improv, creating mini movies and holding audition workshops throughout the year to ensure the students get the whole gambit of what is involved in being an actor.Hi, I ‘m Daryl,
Daryl is invaluable to the Children’s Acting Center. He has been involved in the Winnipeg Film industry for over a decade as an actor in film and commercials, stand-in, stunts and participated in many workshops. He has assisted at the Children’s Acting Center for over 10 years. Some of his gifts include writing scripts, filming, editing, teaching and organizing the details of the weekly classes.
Daryl has always had an affinity with children and is extremely approachable and the kids love him! It is a magical time to get both Daryl and Lois together in class.
Our Story
About Lois Brothers
Hi, I ‘m Lois,
For years I have been known as the person to go to if you have an auditions, or have an extra part, or someone who has a child who wants to be an actor or actress. when I had opened my studio in 2004, it was unusual to find a place where children could come to learn, prepare for auditions and gain confidence. I wanted a place where children and young adults who were struggling to get the part, or maybe even having fear of being in front of the classroom but where ever the child needed help I would be there to help them overcome their fears and guide them towards their goals.
I love to use my “video technique” to help the children to see how they are on screen. It helps them see exactly what to correct and its exciting and fun! I enjoy each and every one of the children in my workshops and classes.
My hope is for all actors is to enjoy the process and have fun creating. Isn’t that why they want to be an actor?
Let’s put FUN back into acting!
